One of the great joys in creating art is walking into the studio every day, picking up your brush and approaching each new work as a collaboration between me and the blank surface. I give, it gives.
Experimenting with mixed media is an opportunity to expand from preconceived notions about composition, color, line and space. There simply are no rules here.
These mixed media drawings are a perfect example of how things can emerge without really having been preconceived. Some of them are actually scraps that took on a life of their own simply because a ray of light hit them a certain way, a song on the radio, passing thoughts, anything at all. They evolve and I evolve along with them. Hopefully in this way the viewer, too, is drawn in and senses their own interplay in the process.
