A vacationing collector wanders into Mitchell Hill Gallery, 438 King Street, Charleston, SC, and falls in love with a small 8″ x 10″ painting by Tom Potocki, and imagines something grand.  What happens next is a magical collaboration between connoisseur, gallery and artist, all working together to make it happen.

“Blue Twilight,” 8″ x 10″ by Tom Potocki is the perfect piece for her room, if only it were bigger.

Never fear, Gallery Director Sara Miller suggests a commission, and the customer is then put in touch with Tom.

Of course, Tom and Blue had some fun along the way.  Potocki’s studio always has an element of whimsy.

In no time at all, the 4′ x 5′ creation is presented to the customer, who suggests minor changes which can easily be accomplished through e-mail, and the completed work makes its way to Long Island, NY.

Needless to say, all are well pleased with the final result.
